This chart shows Statistics Canada numbers for crime in the Yukon over a 25 year span. While property crime is certainly not as peaked at it was in the early 1980s, the general trend is that all forms of crime are rising. Based on the 2006 Canada-wide statistics of crime, the Yukon exceeds British Columbia in both the areas of Breaking and entering, and Theft $5000 and under. And also important to take note of is the significant increase in kidnappings and forcible confinement in Canada.
